India: Cockroach Party Leaders Plot Subversion on the Subcontinent

24-10-2026: The satirical Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has taken India by storm. For a party barely several months old, it has supposedly led a burgeoning struggle for democracy, human rights, electoral rights, student’s rights, jobs and a living wage for millions of Indians. Or so we are led to believe. In reality, what is taking place in India is everything short of carefully orchestrated US backed “Gen Z” (Generation Z) subversion, aimed at toppling the government of Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). When Washington is involved up to its neck, one can be assured that the motives are far from pure. The distance from India to the USA is approximately 13 000 kilometres, and yet central CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke was living in America and studying at Boston University, a mere 600 odd kilometres from Washington when he received a tap on the shoulder.[1] It was only in June this year that Dipke returned to India to allegedly found the CJP and lead multiple political demonstrations, sending the CJP viral across India and further afield. One can only imagine who he was in contact with in Massachusetts.

Regime change agenda

Neha Bora, President of the All-India Students Association (AISA), the student wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, said in a video addressed to Bangladesh that the Gen Z movement “first started in Bangladesh” and congratulated them for “showing us the way”. In 2024, the US deep state pulled off an extremely violent regime change operation which forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee, six months after being re-elected.[2] BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said that he words of Neha Bora amount to an “open admission” of a planned regime change.[3] CJP leader Saurav Das adds some youthful charm, with a Bengali newspaper referring to Das as a “national crush” due to his good looks. His Instagram following crossed 700 000 and his following on social media platform X increased to 162 000.[4] This, along with the spiking interest in the CJP, could hardly have been achieved without major assistance from US backed “civil society” NGOs (“Non-Government” Organisations).

Fellow CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka studied in the United Kingdom (UK), completing a Masters in Public Administration at the London School of Economics (2020-2022), after studying in Kanpur for his undergraduate degree. Yet from 2024 until today, he has worked with the notorious Bill Gates funded Gavi the Vaccine Alliance with the NGO Global Health Visions.[5] This should be a fair indicator that Ranka’s loyalties lie with the globalist elite, not impoverished Indians. Meanwhile, the giveaway that something very fishy is going on with the CJP is the fact that both the BBC[6] in the UK and CNN[7] in the USA have given the Cockroach movement both top billing and favourable coverage from the outset. So while Gen Z youth protest on the streets of Britain and America are dismissed as being influenced by social media or anarchists or are ungrateful grandsons and granddaughters of boomers, Gen Z youth on the streets of India all of a sudden become brave and progressive social justice warriors.

Decades of societal erosion

Even some well-meaning supporters of the “democracy movement” in India are surprised and suspicious about where the Cockroach party has come from and who is behind it. Yet as of last year, India has over 76 000 NGOs operating within its borders.[8] Some of them do carry out useful charity and community development work and have been invited to do so by the Indian government. At the same time, the largest and most well-funded NGOs are those based in the US, and these are invariably the ones that work away for decades, as if waiting for a signal to spark the overthrow of the host nation. Their work in educational, judicial, media and electoral spheres slowly erode the existing institutions. For example, in recent years billionaire anti-socialist regime change specialist George Soros and his Open Society Foundation (OSF) has been the subject of numerous accusations of overt interference in Indian society via funding political challenges and other protests against various Indian government projects.

In 2024, an 85-page report was submitted to the Indian parliament which was full of allegations that OSF had funnelled millions of dollars into various projects with the aim of weakening the authority of the government. OSF funded and organised protests against the Citizen Amendment Act, funded environmental NGOs which challenged infrastructure projects such as for dams, mining and industrial development. The report repeatedly alleges that OSF interferes in sovereign affairs under the guise of philanthropy.[9] This is a familiar pattern for the Soros empire internationally. Compromise the host state by attempting or actually blocking vital development projects under the guise of the environment or democratic or human rights and then blame the government for not providing for its people.

US based NGOs are the largest “grantees”, having granted more than $1.2 billion dollars to India just between 2020 and 2023.[10] In February last year, a report by India’s Ministry of Finance revealed that USAID (US Agency for International Development) had spent $750 million in India just in the 2023-24 financial year.[11] President Trump at the time was boasting about cutting funding for the NED (National Endowment for Democracy – the specialist regime change arm of the CIA), and claimed that USAID spent 21 million for “voter turnout in India”.  This is plausible, and one can see the focus that the US backed government organisations have had on elections in India just over the past five years.  Trump’s “cuts” to the NED are a show, and the CIA linked entity has not been defunded at all.

The Ford Foundation has operated in India since 1952 at the then invitation of the Indian government. Originally it was involved in charity type work in agricultural development, community development and self-help programmes.  However, in recent years, it has moved from development philanthropy to areas such as civil society, governance, elections, media and public policy – which has brought it under political scrutiny. The Ford Foundation is directly associated with funding the so-called “Association for Democratic Reforms” (ADR), which augments the newly minted Cockroach party. In September, it was evicted from its decades long headquarters in New Delhi at the Lohdi Estate after its lease expired. The offices were handed to India led global initiatives such as the International Big Cat Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance.[12] In practice, mega NGOs such as OSF and the Ford Foundation function as effective adjuncts of the US state department, working away within Global South states to ensure they never step out of line of US foreign or domestic policy.

FCRA

After decades of allowing US backed NGOs to operate within India, the Indian government started to realise that these activities could well be used to pare away their sovereignty. In 2010, it passed the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, which states that an association must have been in existence for more than three years, and the validity of registration is for a five-year period.[13] This year, in response to the multiple allegations of US backed NGOs undermining the actual government, amendments to the FCRA were passed which took effect on June 22. These amendments directly impact the activities of foreign funded NGOs operating in India. This includes the definition of a “key functionary”, which has been expanded to include foreign nationals. NGOs must now specify, at the point of registration, both the purpose for which they seek foreign contributions and the states in which they will operate. There is now a quantified activity threshold for the renewal of NGOs. If NGOs have not been engaged in “reasonable activity” for two consecutive years, it will be deemed to have become defunct and will not be registered.[14]

NGOs must now disclose their official website and social media accounts in the forms for registration, i.e., they won’t be able to hide their activities so easily. Also, there is now a requirement for the disclosure of any publications brought out by the NGOs during the year.[15] The Indian government will now be able to keep track of what material the NGOs are distributing. As to be expected, these very NGOs have jumped up and down and complained about these restrictions on their activities. Amnesty International claimed that the FCRA amendments would undermine the “right to freedom of association” ![16] Some NGOs have complained that the amendments would give officials wider powers to act against organisations and that it would increase administrative paperwork.[17] Yet giving government increased power to regulate and control the activities of foreign funded NGOs is precisely the aim of the FCRA amendments. In response, a protest movement for “democracy” and “human rights” ensues. This is hardly a coincidence.

The Cockroach party has targeted the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in their agitational attempts to mobilise Gen Z. The SIR is a process overseen by the Election Commission of India to clean up the electoral rolls. The government has stated that it is needed to remove duplicate entries, those who have passed away, and those who have moved or emigrated. Since last year, around 130 million names have been removed from the electoral rolls. This may be plausible, given India’s vast population of 1.4 billion. Yet the CJP claims that the SIR targets Muslims, Dalits and those from poorer communities who supposedly do not vote for the BJP.[18] US Congresswoman of Indian origin Pramila Jayapal posted on X that she was concerned about a “purge” of 130 million from the voting rolls in India, and compared it to the alleged actions of the Trump Administration ahead of the Mid Term elections.[19]

Hybrid war on multipolarity

The notion that the Cockroach Party and its US backers are frightfully concerned about “democracy” in India is nonsensical. No doubt, many young people and others have been drawn in to the protests under the impression that they are acting for basic rights against a government bent on taking them away. Yet this is a carefully crafted illusion, and it is not hard to find much more credible explanations. The US is attempting to drive India out of BRICS, while also trying to prevent India from purchasing even more oil from the Russian Federation. The US ruling class is desperate to preserve the imperialist unipolarity it held for a relatively short period of 30 years since the collapse of the former Soviet Union. Since that time, the inestimable rise of the socialistic People’s Republic of China (PRC) has taken place. The PRC is now arguably leading the drive towards multipolarity, in concert with its allies Russia and Iran and almost the entire Global South. This is crystallised in the non-imperialist BRICS confederation (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa plus 15 other states), though this is only one pillar of the multipolar world.

Multipolarity is not a joint communique issued every 12 months at a summit meeting but is arguably a redistribution of power. Its core value is the sovereign equality of all states on Earth. This is impossible as long as imperialism exists, but it is a progressive drive in opposition. The very act of offering some financial and economic alternatives to a faltering Western capitalism is driving nightmares for the ancien regimes of the US and Europe. The old order is crumbing, but in its place is rising an alternative, which may at some point move towards socialism. Imperialism cannot allow this to happen, and so it launches multiple hybrid forms of war. It is currently at war with Iran, at war with Russia via Ukraine, and it is preparing for a kinetic war on China. No one should be that surprised that Washington has now also begun a war on India. A covert regime change operation in New Delhi is the cheaper option, so this is the first path taken. Any justification can be used as cover – democracy, student rights, human rights, jobs, standard of living and so on. Workers should not fall for such a three-card trick.

Imperialism has carried out “successful” violent regime change operations in Nepal and Bangladesh, and both of these were aimed at India (and China). Now it is the turn of India itself. Of course, India is the largest country in the world population wise, so it will be a tougher nut to crack. Modi and the BJP are right-wing, there is no doubt. Yet this is small fry compared to the larger agenda of world imperialism straining every muscle to stop the advance of the multipolar world. Workers should therefore be alert to the various forms of hybrid war unleashed by a dying empire and be prepared to defend BRICS states and all of its Global South allies. Real strides towards a socialist overturn of capitalist imperialism are needed, but they must first proceed over the multipolar bridge. Marxist vanguard parties are key for this process and need to be urgently forged with international links. History will favour those who aid its forward course.
