Bondi Massacre: Does the Story Add Up?

20-12-2025: Images and video footage of a massacre of mainly Jewish Australians on the iconic Bondi Beach in Sydney on December 14 have flooded the media worldwide. Mainstream media is reporting that 15 people were killed and 38 were injured when two shooters began opening fire from a footbridge at the northern end of Bondi Beach, towards a Hanukkah celebration. Large numbers of people were gathered for the Chanukah by the Sea, which started at 5pm and was expected to run until 9pm.[1] However, the shooting started at approximately 6.40pm, sending the thousands of festival attendees and beach goers fleeing while emergency services arrived. Ahmed Al Ahmed gained praise for sneaking up on one of the gunmen and wrestling the gun away from them. Also, couple Boris Gurman and Sofia Gurman reportedly died while trying to stop one of the gunmen before the rampage began.[2]

Questions

However, the mainstream media version of events raises more questions than it answers. For example, one eyewitness to the massacre alleges that four police officers were on the scene but did not react for some 20 minutes and did not fire back at the terrorists who were continuously shooting and reloading their weapons.[3] They needed to shoot and re-load while holding the footbridge as automatic weapons have been banned in Australia since the 1996 Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania. There is also footage of three female police officers who did not engage the active shooters and appear to keep their distance.[4] Some say they froze, while others say they were directing people away from the footbridge. Some have also pointed out that the footbridge at the northern end of Bondi Beach from which the shooters chose to launch their attack is only one block away from the Bondi police station.

Some have pointed out that at one point the two shooters were dressed in black, while clearly later a shooter dressed in a black top with white trousers appears, which would make three. As it stands, not all of the 15 victims of the shooting have been identified.[5] Yet the image which arouses the most suspicion is that of a man with blood supposedly pouring from a wound, with a bandage around his head, casually giving interviews to the media rather than going somewhere for medical treatment.[6] This person is Arsen Ostrovsky, who claimed to have survived the October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel. Reportedly, he is also the CEO of Israel based NGO the International Legal Forum. Other images which appear to show his “blood” being applied by a make-up artist have been circulated.

The two shooters have been named as Sajid Akram, 51, and Naveed Akram, 24. This pair are father and son, which is extremely rare for a terrorist attack, and perhaps has never previously taken place. Sajid was killed in the police response, but Naveed was wounded and taken to hospital. Yet several have pointed out that Naveed Akram’s name was being Googled (searched for on the internet search engine) in the Israeli capital Tel Aviv on December 13, the day before the shooting took place.[7] There are also claims that the massacre was a Mossad (Israeli intelligence) operation to bolster support for Israel.[8] This is just a claim, but two days after the massacre, it was confirmed that Mossad would be joining the investigation into the attack, alongside the relevant Australian authorities.[9] Those with keen memories have pointed out that these terrorist incidents have a habit of taking place around the same time of year in Australia. The Lindt café siege took place on the 15th of December, 2014, while the Wieambilla shooting took place on the 12th of December 2022. There are those who claim that the Bondi event is entirely a false flag, with little evidence of real injuries or real blood, eyewitnesses who show little emotion and shed no tears when interviewed, and a cut and paste political narrative ready to deploy – another anti-Semitic attack on society by crazed Islamic terrorists.[10]

Context

This is not to deny the slaughter of innocent people, as some staged false flags do involve the wanton taking of lives. Though if it was indeed a staged false flag, it follows the pattern of set up anti-Semitic firebombing and graffiti attacks on Jewish homes and synagogues in Sydney and Melbourne before the last federal election.[11] The exposure of the “caravan of explosives” in Dural earlier this year as a fake terrorist plot[12] implicates the government itself, who perhaps set this up in order to provide a pretext for hate speech laws passing through the federal parliament. The false flag anti-Semitic attacks were then used for warmongering against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was blamed by the federal government – without a shred of evidence. In August ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organisation) claimed that the Iranian government was behind the fire attack on the Adass Israel synagogue in Melbourne and the Continental Kitchen in Sydney, which is ludicrous on the face of it.

The Prime Minister stated at the time that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) would be listed as a terrorist organisation. This is rather like a foreign power declaring the Australian SAS (Special Air Service) a terrorist organisation. Incredibly, the Iranian ambassador to Australia Ahmad Sadeghi and three other consular officials were expelled from the country and declared persona non grata.[13] This is the first time that international diplomatic staff have been ordered to leave the country since World War II. This followed the 12-day war on Iran by Israel in June[14] with some warning that the Israeli state, with the backing of US (United States of America) imperialism, would re-start a bombardment of Iran. This has not come to pass as yet, but the Australian ruling class was clearly playing its part in the ongoing provocations. And on cue, Israeli authorities have already blamed an “Iranian backed foreign terror cell” for the Bondi Beach massacre.[15] These are ludicrous claims, with not even a scrap of substantiation. Working people need to defend Iran against all imperialist war threats, as it is being targeted for regime change, amongst other reasons, for co-ordinating the Shia “Axis of Resistance” and blocking the advance of imperialism throughout the Middle East.

The other immediate political context was that the Bondi massacre came just days after the youth social media ban was implemented. This outrageous attack on young people, which is aimed at censorship and surveillance of all Australians at unprecedented levels, was enacted on December 10th. It was a flop, and young people and many mainstream institutional bodies opposed it and mocked and ridiculed it. Arguably, the government needed a distraction, or indeed a mass terrorist event, to push through the next horrendous step. This is the attempt to mandate ID to perform a basic internet search,[16] which allows all users of the internet to be immediately identified, and their search history to be recorded for government review. Potentially, even for the Bondi Beach massacre, the youth social media ban put the lives of young people at risk as news about the shooting and warnings to stay away from the vicinity rapidly spread on social media.

Anti-Semitism

The government and the conservative right-wing immediately leapt into action declaring the Bondi massacre a result of rising anti-Semitism. In reality, there has not been a wave of anti-Semitism in Australia since the October 7 terror attacks in 2023. What there has been is a misled and misguided movement for Palestine largely led by sections of the opportunist left. A movement to defend Palestine from Israel’s genocidal war was certainly necessary. However, while this movement energetically marched almost weekly in the streets for two years, its poor political leadership meant that it was not an anti-war movement in practice.[17] While the majority of participants genuinely sought an end to the murderous conflict, the mainstream left put forward only a nationalist and moralist position, which also apologised for terrorism. This then enabled the capitalist state to paint the whole movement as calling for violence and hatred towards all of Israel – which was at least partially true. It also enabled the state to label the movement as “Anti-Semitic”, which gave the right-wing an avenue to excuse the war crimes of the Israeli state.

Capitalism is facing an existential challenge to its rule, 25 years into the 21st Century. The socialistic People’s Republic of China (PRC) is surpassing the West on virtually every field of endeavour – industry, manufacturing, science, technology, infrastructure, AI and much more. Along with its allies in the non-imperialist BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa plus 15 other states) bloc, the drive towards multipolarity has the overwhelming support of the majority of the nations of the Global South. The response of Western imperialism is to engage in a series of desperate manoeuvres to avoid its eclipse. Unfortunately, this means false flag terrorist attacks on “their own” people, proxy wars, colour revolutions and even mega kinetic wars against Iran, Russia and China. Capitalism will wage these wars regardless of the human cost. Working people must seek to forge a Marxist leadership which can light a path towards socialism, where censorship, surveillance, terrorism, the crushing of free speech and a debilitating cost of living become relics of a dark past. Once the working class becomes a class for itself, humanity can grasp the future in its own hands.
